OSIRIS ASTROMETRIC INSTRUMENT

OSIRIS provides the full metrology of the wave front within the aperture of telescopes. This allows light wave phase measurement with the accuracy exceeding the one of the optical elements manufacturing.

Among all existing and planned projects "Astrometry" is the only one that provides microsecond accuracy of a single measurement. The OSIRIS interferometer  will make it possible to solve basic astrometric problems - to obtain high precision measurements of distances to several thousands of stars and to define the inertial celestial coordinate frame.

Several versions of astrometric interferometers have been designed. One of them is equipped with precise rotary driver for pointing and could be mounted on a heavy space probe or on the orbital station.

The second version of the interferometer is designed for special spaceprobe.

LIDA will be launched being packed under head fairing, and when launched, it will be unfolded into full-dimension device with 200-cm baseline.
